Scotland’s rugby captain, Mike Blair, who is backing the campaign: “This is a great idea.  Who better to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust than other teenagers.  You could have a lot of fun coming up with creative ways to raise £50, knowing that it will be used in such a valuable way.  I know when I was a teenager, the last thing I wanted to do was hang out with grown ups or little kids - this money will allow teenagers with cancer to have their own space in hospital where they can share a ward with other teenagers, playing computer games or just chilling out.”

Among the first to sign up to the 2008teenagers £50 challenge is Lynne's oldest grandson Sam. Sam is hitting his teens this year so feels it's a perfect chance to show what a great supporter of Lynne's fundraising he has been and now branch out to do his own fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust!   Watch this space to see how he gets on.

Two other teenagers with a very special reason to fundraise - Kyle and Hannah McPherson - Kyle is now nearly 19 but when he was 15 he was diagnosed with cancer.   He is fighting fit now and has organised a major event for TCT Edinburgh earlier this year - Tryumph for TCT - a fantastic rugby event which he plans to do every year now.  His very supportive sister, Hannah, is also a great fundraiser for TCT and models at our annual fashion show.

Kyle is going to organise a poker night with friends and Hannah is already designing her greeting cards to sell.

Two more teenagers have signed up - Rosie and Liam.
Rosie had this to say

My cousin had cancer she was 13 when she was diagnosed.

Since then it has been important for me to raise awareness about teenagers with cancer, and helping as much as I can.

£50 is not such a lot of money to raise and if we can do it together it would make a huge difference.

A few weeks ago  a teenager called Jemma wrote to me from Scarborough - she had been inspired to fundraise after her friend got cancer - she and eight friends are doing an amazing job of a five week challenge to raise funds for TCT and she has asked me to share her quote with you.  This is what Jemma has written in her blog - isn't it amazing?

So many families have been affected.
So many families have suffered the heartbreak.
So many families have been torn apart.
So many families still have this ahead.

Too many people are unaware.
Too many people don't live their lifes.
Too many people have witnessed this hurt.

From the youngest of people to the oldest of people, cancer can strike anywhere at anytime. Its not going to be considerate & think 'he/she has a family so no not them', its going to strike where-ever. It could be your family, your friends, your enemies, your colleagues, it could even be you.

Too many families have already been dragged through this. Too many people have lost thier loved ones, had to live their lifes without them. Feeling like they should have some how found some way to help them.

Its happened long enough now, we need to fight this together. We're going to make a difference just 8 ordinary school girls wanting to help others through this, to stop this, who have already witnessed that hurt. We're having such an amazing, fun journey of fundrasing to help the young sufferers of cancer & it couldn't be a better cause. We're only 8 people out of millions but we're not giving this chance up to make a difference. Help us make that difference today.
