YOUR MONEY WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO THE LIVES OF TEENAGERS FIGHTING CANCER IN THE EAST OF SCOTLAND

Teenage Cancer Trust estimates that, with the nine units they already have around the UK, four out of every 10 teenagers diagnosed with cancer now have access to a TCT Unit.  Their aim is to build enough units so that by 2012, every teenager will be treated on one.
In Scotland we currently have one unit at the Beatson in Glasgow.

In the East of Scotland our goals are to have age appropriate units at

  •  The new Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh for 13-16year olds
  •
The Western General Hospital, Edinburgh for 16-24 year olds - at the moment there are no age appropriate facilities for this group of  young   people fighting cancer - they are treated on wards with much older people and often don't meet another person their own age during treatment.

The East of Scotland Appeal will be launched in May 2009 to secure the funding for these vital facilities.

In the meantime an interim Teenage Cancer Trust unit has been funded through local fundraising and will open in Summer 2009 at the present Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh

Teenagers are treated in Edinburgh but come from many parts of the East of Scotland, from Cupar in Angus to Duns in the Borders

Please, help me raise the money for these much needed facilities!
